Warnings

Choking Hazard: Max Disctance Retriever Attachments contain small parts and are not intended for use as children’s toys. Keep out of reach of young children. The retrieval attachment is specifically designed for the retrieval of disc golf discs and should only be used for its intended purpose.

Electrical Hazard: Max Disctance telescoping retrievers are conductive and should never be used near overhead power lines, electrical equipment, or during lightning storms. Contact with electrical sources may result in serious injury, electrocution, or death.

Pinch and Impact Hazard: Use caution when extending, collapsing, transporting, storing, or operating the telescoping pole. Improper handling may result in pinching, crushing, impact injuries, or damage to the product.

Carbon Fiber Damage and Splinter Hazard: Damaged carbon fiber components may develop sharp fibers or splinters that can puncture or irritate the skin. Damage may occur from improper use, excessive force, impact, crushing, improper collapsing of the retriever, or continued use after damage has occurred. Inspect all carbon fiber sections before each use. If any section shows signs of cracking, splitting, fraying, splintering, or other damage, discontinue use immediately and replace the damaged component. Gloves are recommended when handling damaged carbon fiber components.

Inspect Before Use: Before each use, verify that all pole sections, retrieval attachments, and jam nuts are properly secured and free from damage. Discontinue use of any product that appears damaged or unsafe.

Use at Your Own Risk: Users assume all risks associated with the operation and use of Max Disctance Retrievers and Retriever Attachments. Always exercise caution and use the product in a safe and responsible manner.

General Care and Use for Max Disctance Retrievers and Retriever Attachments

Max Disctance Retrievers are designed to help safely recover discs from water, brush, trees, and other hard-to-reach locations. To use your retriever, extend the telescoping pole to the desired length and gently place the retrieval attachment onto the surface of the disc. Once the attachment has secured the disc, pull the disc directly back toward you.

The telescoping pole is not designed to withstand excessive force, especially when fully extended. For best results, pull the retriever straight back toward you and avoid twisting, swinging, jerking, or using the pole as a lever. The pole should never be swung to extend sections. Extend the pole beginning with the section closest to the retrieval attachment and work your way back toward the handle.

Proper Collapsing of Carbon Fiber Retrievers: To prevent damage, carbon fiber retrievers must always be collapsed in sequence from the largest diameter section to the smallest diameter section. Collapsing the retriever out of order may allow smaller sections to shift off-center inside larger sections. When this occurs, the end of a larger section can impact the top edge of a smaller section during collapse, potentially causing cracks, chips, delamination, or carbon fiber splintering. Repeated impacts from improper collapsing may weaken the structural integrity of the retriever and lead to premature failure. Always collapse each section carefully and verify that smaller sections remain properly aligned before continuing.

Users are responsible for operating and maintaining the retriever in a manner that prevents damage. To maximize the life of the telescoping pole, keep all sections clean and dry after use. Dirt, sand, mud, moisture, and other debris inside the pole can reduce performance and shorten the lifespan of the product.

Max Disctance Retrievers are designed so that the retrieval attachment can be easily removed and replaced for maintenance or repair. For this reason, no thread-locking compound or permanent adhesive is used to secure the retrieval attachment to the pole. Before each use, the user is responsible for inspecting the retrieval attachment and ensuring it is securely fastened using the included jam nut. Failure to properly tighten and secure the jam nut may result in the attachment becoming loose or detached during use. Max Disctance is not responsible for loss or damage resulting from a retrieval attachment that was not properly secured prior to use.

When purchasing a retrieval attachment separately, the user is responsible for properly securing the attachment to their retrieval device. If using a pole manufactured by another company, Max Disctance recommends using a locking nut, thread locker (such as Loctite®), or other suitable fastening method to ensure the attachment remains secure during use.

The retrieval attachment may perform better when the suction cups are slightly wet. If retrieving a disc near water, lightly wetting the suction cups before use may improve grip. Dirt and debris on the suction cups can reduce effectiveness. To maintain performance, periodically clean the suction cups by hand using a soft scrub brush, warm water and mild dish soap.
